THE ARTICLE 13
Youtube is the major video resource of the world right now. We usually use Google and Youtube in our day-to-day works. Youtube does cover each and every field. It has a large variety of videos. But what if they block most of the videos in it?
Article 13
What
is Article 13? What it does? How will it effect us? There are answers.
There are lot's of unimaginable answers for these questions. Article 13
is a new Europian copy right law which will directly effect all the
youtubers around the world in many ways. First of all I would like to
say that Article 13 has been built for right intensions. We all know
that most of the youtubers use various kinds of pictures, video clips,
sound tracks from various sources. I will make this more simple. For
instance, I am going to make a video on Best Places to Visit Around the
World. Therefore my video will contain some video clips which were taken
by different people. I will use some sound clips for that video, which
were recorded by different people. But I will use them in my video. Now
this is the point where the Article 13 will directly effect. According
to this law, using such videos clips and sound tracks, even pictures,
will be prohibited. Which means that my video could be blocked by
Youtube if I break this law. This is unfair. This is definitely unfair.
We could be using them for educational purposes. We could be using them
for fun. But Youtube will not be taking responsibility on this. Just
imagine that you are a music track producer and someone will use one of
your music tracks into a video of his own, without your knowledge and
permission and gets popular all over the world. Just because of your
sound track. Then you will have to complain about your music track being
used without permission. You can sue those responsible for this act. It
will cause Youtube many law problems and most of the time they will
have to pay damages to you for that. This is the risk that Youtube will
not have in the future. Instead of getting into such problems, they will
ban your video, and probably block your channel for misusing
someoneelse's property.
But
no one should be afraid or panic right now. Because this is a law that
Europian countries will be directly effected with. And still this is
still a pending decision in Europe too, because many Youtubers and many
people are fighting against this law. A large number of societies have
gone to courts to have justise on this.
But....
Just think about this. What if this law becomes permenant? What if this
law will spread all over the world? What will happen if Youtube decide
to ban all video contents that have others property? That is the thing
that we should be aware of. May be it will take many years for this law
to be effective in other countries which are not Europian countries.
Sometimes this law will not be approved by the Youtube. Nothing to worry
about. Do not stop making videos. But all you have to do is, simply
give owner rights to people who would use other peoples contents in your
videos, in the description. And just take permission from them if you
can. And then if the Article 13 becomes approved, that will somewhat
prevent you from getting your videos and channels banned. Lastly, I am
pleased to say that Article 13 will not effect on Youtube away from
Europe. But just be prepared. No one can tell what will happen in the
future. Be an unique content creator. Keep all your good work up!
