WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO "HUAWEI"?

“Huawei” is the biggest telecommunication equipment company of the world and one of the leading smartphone manufacturing companies around the world. They did overcome the world market of smartphones by surpassing Apple last year, and only being second to Samsung. With the major Chinese company using Google’s Android as their operating system, which they use as EMUI by modifying Android, they were being warned by American government of cancelling their Google license for years now.

As America and China is in a huge trade war, US government and FBI were reportedly warning Google, of the Chinese company getting information about their citizens through Huawei devices and handing over them to Chinese government. Therefore Huawei was aware of Android ban and they were working on a new operating system since 2012. Last Sunday Google suddenly cancelled their license for Huawei. It was a major threat to the China based company as 75% of the world’s smartphones users are using Android based operating systems. And Huawei just became one of the best smartphone companies in the world. Not just Google, but smartphone chip manufacturers such as Qualcom, Broadcom and Intel also cancelled their license with Huawei following US ban. And also SD Market recently banned Huawei, using micro SD cards. And also Microsoft removed their bond with Huawei a few days ago.

The reason behind this ban was that the US government is suspecting that the Chinese government is receiving all the information of US citizens through Huawei devices. Because of the trade war between America and China, America is doing everything to keep China away from their security. After this cancelling of license, future Huawei devices will not get access to Google Playstore, Gmail, Google Maps etc. That is because Google has cancelled the Open Source Purchase License for Huawei. But both Huawei and Android have confirmed that the existing Huawei devices will get all the software updates and security updates without any problem. This decision is a huge let down to the Huawei because most of the people around the world is using Android.

In the past, several companies have tried out their own operating systems. For instant Blackberry tried their own OS named Blackberry Operating System, but they were failed. Nokia linked their devices with Windows Operating System, but they were miserably failed. As IOS and Android still lead the smartphone industry, Huawei will have to face a huge challenge when introducing a new OS.

In 2017, Samsung, Apple and Huawei were the three best ranked smartphone manufactures in the world. But in 2018 Huawei surpassed Apple to come to the second place. As the Samsung is a South Korean company, the US based Apple company has slipped over to third place of the world. May be they could have urged US government to ban Huawei as they had to compete more with the Chinese company. However world’s leading companies such as Adidas and Nike have warned US government of an economical down-fall as of banning Huawei, the US government temporarily lifted the ban of Huawei. But still there is not a clear decision as it for now about the bond between companies and the future.

This ban may lead other world’s leading Chinese smartphone manufactures such as Xiaomi, Oppo, ZTE and Vivo to think about their future with Google as they also use modified Android versions in their devices. However the decision is still on the fence and Huawei will have to face to a major challenge in the future.
